Can I Drop My Child Off At A Birthday Party & Leave?

We’ve all been there, wondering whether or not it’s ok to drop your child off at a birthday party and leave or if you need to stick around for the duration.

That’s why we have decided to offer advice around this question in this article.

There are 3 main factors to consider when making this decision:

1) Age of your child

For small children, parents are expected to stay for the duration of the party as they will require more supervision and are likely to experience separation anxiety. A general rule of thumb is that kids of 5 years and younger should be accompanied by a parent.

2) How well do you know the person hosting the party?

Leaving your child at a birthday party isn’t just about trusting them, it’s also about trusting the person or family hosting the party.

How well do you know them?  How familiar is your child with the host’s home and the other kids that will be attending the party?

If you’re not comfortable simply dropping your child off, you can always hang around for a short while to make sure you’re both comfortable before leaving.

3)  Do you have any other kids you need to take care of?

Another factor to consider is whether you have other kids that you need to take care of. Surprising the host with extra children is not a good idea. Remember, the host will only have enough food, cakes, prizes and goody bags for the amount of guests invited.
