Ahhh Minecraft, dubbed on the internet as ‘virtual lego’. One of the best selling video games of all time, with over 150 million copies sold worldwide and 91 million users logging into the game from various platforms every month.

The idea is simple, it’s a game about making pieces fit to create something unique, it’s easily accessible and anyone can play. It’s honestly no wonder why it’s been such an enormous success, and now it’s even infiltrating kids birthday parties!

Has your child mentioned that they’d like a Minecraft themed birthday party this year? If you answered ‘yes’, then great! This is just the blog post for you! We’re going to go through lots of ideas to help you pull off the best Minecraft party ever. If you answered ‘no’ then feel free to read along and apply some of the steps into a different themed party.

First up, let’s talk invites.

While it seems that physical invites have gone out of fashion, they’re still the best way to make a visual impact and set the tone for the party to come. The internet has hundreds of printable Minecraft party invites, here are the top 3:

  1. 1. Minecraft Ticket Invite
  2. 2. Flyer invite
  3. 3. Flyer Invite #2

If you fancy getting a little crafty, why not try making some DIY invites? It’s a great way to get the kids involved in doing something a bit different. Here some ideas:

Now it’s time to discuss food.

Food for Minecraft parties is pretty simple, pretty much anything square/cube shaped goes.

Think Rice Crispy treats, jelly squares and brownies.

Watermelon is a great idea, it’s healthy is fun and most importantly, it fits in perfectly with the theme of the game.

Dip pretzel sticks in organe-coloured white chocolate to make them into ‘matchsticks’.

Baby carrots and apples make very regular appearances throughout gameplay so it won’t hurt throwing a few on the food table.

A list of all the food items available in the game are listed here for more inspiration: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Food

Drinks:

Although less prominent in gameplay, you can still have lots of fun and get super creative when it comes to the drinks for the party.

One of the most iconic, yet least favourite parts of the game are our four-legged friends, Creepers. These little guys look like walking cacti and have a signature pixelated, black scowl.

You can easily use a coloured drink or drink bottle and electrical tape to achieve a Creeper drink, or, you can purchase custom drink labels online.

I think we better start off by telling you to not get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options that there are out there when it comes to decorating a Minecraft themed birthday party!

It’s always best to keep things simple and use items that are easy to get your hands on, so think cardboard boxes covered in different coloured paper to make up different elements of the game.

Black and green balloons, and pixelated tools cut out from cardboard.

What would a Minecraft party be without any Minecraft!?

When you book in for a Minecraft themed birthday party with the Game Vault, we will ensure that all party goers are hooked up to a console so that everyone gets the opportunity to play the game together. The console version (the one we use) allows for up to 4 players to join a single game station at once. We usually set up a couple of game stations for a party.

Last but not least, party bags…

Kids love ‘em, parents not so much, but they’re a great way to thank your guests for coming along and celebrating your special day with you. It’s also a great way for the guests to take a piece of the party home with them.

As mentioned above in the drinks section, Creepers are the easiest do-it-yourself option, just decorate some green paper bags with black electrical tape and you’re good to go.

Pop some lollies and trinkets in the goody bags and your party guests will be thrilled.

There you have it, your guide to throwing an epic Minecraft themed birthday party.

Remember to get creative and have lots of fun!
