When Your Child Isn’t Invited To A Birthday Party

Although parents don’t like to admit it, the fact is that your child isn’t going to get invited to every birthday party.

Kids are usually left out based on constantly shifting friendships. It’s not nice and feelings maybe hurt. For parents, the best thing to do is simply shrug it off, but kids will require comforting.

Confronting the hosting parents will not only embarass your child, but also needlessly complicate your child’s relationship with their friends. It’s up to your child to navigate their friendships, not you.

What to do when your child is not invited to a birthday party

1) Don’t push them: If your child doesn’t seem bothered by not being invited, then there is no issue. Move on.

2) Listen to them: Parents need to hear their child out in order to understand if it’s not being invited to the party or the current state of their friendship that is upsetting them.

3) Be sure to keep perspective and to provide it: Many times parents are hurt on their child’s behalf, but this isn’t about your feelings, it’s your child’s feelings. Be the voice of reason for your child.

4) Do something else that is fun: The missed party isn’t the only thing they can be doing, there are plenty of awesome things kids and parents can do together whilst building great lasting memories.

If your child is the one that is having the party, why not treat them to the best birthday party in Perth?!
