Where to Stay Cool in Perth this Summer without Breaking the Bank

We’ve already had our hottest December day on record with temperatures reaching 42 degrees celsius just a couple of days ago. Children around Perth are going stir crazy and their parents are struggling to find ways to keep them entertained, without spending a fortune.

We want you to know that it is possible to have fun these summer holidays without breaking the bank. Now we’re going to show you how!

Where to Stay Cool in Perth this Summer without Breaking the Bank

Rainbow Waters Playground:

LOT 5519 Library Ave, Ellenbrook WA 6069

This is one of those little gems that you will be so glad that you’ve found.

With lots of grassed areas for a picnic and free BBQs, you can spend the day and have fun with the whole family.  The water playground is free, it’ll keep the kids busy for hours and will definitely cool you down.

Bring your bikes along. There’s a great BMX track right next door which makes for some added afternoon fun once the weather cools down.

What to bring:

  • 🟢 Sunblock
  • 🟢 A picnic
  • 🟢 Picnic rug
  • 🟢 Towels
  • 🟢 Bikes
  • 🟢 Bathers

City Splash:

Beat the heat this January with the City of Perth with a range of water slides, kids activities and  workshops.

While this event is still a few weeks away, it’ll be a great FREE way to get the kids out of the house, enjoying the sunshine and having lots of fun. They can dare to plummet down the ‘Vertical Screamer’ or ride the mechanical surfboard. However, if they’re looking for a quieter activity, they can join in on one of the arts and crafts workshops!

What to bring:

  • 🟢 Sunblock
  • 🟢 Snacks
  • 🟢 Towels
  • 🟢 Bathers

Hillarys Boat Harbour and Pontoon:

This one’s for all you NOR families who are looking for a way to stay cool without having to travel too far.

Hillarys is a family hotspot in the summer time with its abundance of food options (budget to $$$$), shops and pristine waters. Head on down with the family for a day of swimming, eating and looking around. Best part is – you can do it all in your bathers!

Swim out to the pontoon and slide down the infamous slide into the clear, calm water.

What to bring:

  • 🟢 Sunblock
  • 🟢 Towels
  • 🟢 Bathers
  • 🟢 Money for lunch, ice cream and/or ice cream
  • 🟢 Snacks/picnic

Scarborough Beach Pools:

Finally, if you’re a beach bum but a little scared of swimming in the sea because of Perth’s notorious shark hotspots, then this is the perfect comprise. Located right on the beach front is a geothermal heated, salt water chlorinated outdoor lap & leisure pool.

There’s a great little area for younger children. This consists of a pool with a maximum depth of 0.9m and water spouts, therefore it’s nice and safe.

The pools have access to the beach. So you can always pop down for a play on the sand once the weather starts to cool down in the late afternoon.

Entry costs are minimal, $18 for a family of four and you have the whole day to have fun in the sun!

What to bring:

  • 🟢 Sunblock
  • 🟢 Towels
  • 🟢 Bathers
  • 🟢 Money ice cream/coffee and entry fee
  • 🟢 Snacks/picnic
  • 🟢 Sand toys

So there you go, there’s a few things that you can do with the kids to keep them cool and entertained on those scorching Perth summer days!

And don’t forget that if you have a party or event coming up, our Game Truck is fully air conditioned, therefore you’ll stay nice and cool!
