Screen Time Limits For Kids

Whilst we love a good video game here at Game Vault, we also recognise the importance of screen time limits for kids.

You may not know that it is recommended that kids younger than 2 years old shouldn’t spend any time in front of a screen, whether that be watching television or using other electronic media devices.

For kids aged between 2 and 5, watching television and using other electronic media such as tablets or computers, should be limited to no more than one hour per day.

For kids and teens aged between 5 and 17 years old, you should be limiting recreational screen time to no more than 2 hours per day.

Setting screen time limits for kids is not always straightforward, however we have tips that may help.

1. Set out family rules regarding the maximum time on screens per day and ensure that you stick to it

2. Even though it’s tempting as background noise, try not to leave the TV on. Use music instead

3. Designate set days as screen free days

4. Have a “no screens on” policy during meal times

5. Avoid having screens in your kids’ bedrooms. By doing this you eliminate temptation

6. Use a timer or clock to enforce the screen time that you have set out

7. Wherever possible, choose non-screen based activities and entertainment for your kids and family

If your kids have been good and adhering to your screen time rules, why not treat them to a game truck party!
